Embracing AI and Future Use
This is a post that I rather not make and should be writing on my books that readers are waiting on. It seems people are wanting to be in us Authors faces for either using AI or going against it. I went above and beyond to making my books Audible all 27 of them for readers. That is a lot of books, trust me, if Authors with over 100, 200, 300, and more books that would take weeks or maybe months to get that many on Audible not unless they were able to get ahead of the game.
Now, back on topic I have used ChatGPT for book descriptions and to help me with writing a chapter to get a story going. Is it wrong? Maybe. I do believe in writing for yourself and making everything your own. With my health getting worse including brain fog, anxiety, depression, and tons of pain, I've needed some help more so than I did in my early twenties. With losing my abilities for anything has become much more and depending on AI for a few things in my career. Is it crime? Another maybe.
I have accepted some AI but not all of it. What do I not accept? Book covers. That is distasteful because you are using it without even trying to make your own through Canva or reaching out to the Artists that are capable and affordable to making book covers. Next issue: Having AI write your book for you. Yeah, that isn't acceptable in any shape or form. It is just as bad as having someone write your book for you when you are capable too. I had someone write a book for me once because I didn't know how to write that style for a certain romance. I did embrace her to write her own books now if she ever took that plunge I have no idea but her wife was also encouraging her too. I made that one mistake and never done it again. I do ask for help but not for everything and do research if need be.
AI writing your books doesn't get you no where to be honest because it is computer writing your book and not using your imagination to provide these stories. I understand writing books is difficult it took me many years to tell stories in the right direction. I still have basic grammar issues but nothing that can't be fixed if I chose too. If you aren't willing to learn to write like most Popular Authors then why are you out there? Using AI is kind of a cheating source in my eyes. Cause you aren't willing the hard way things are in the writing industry.
Do I feel I'm in the wrong for using Virtual Voice for my books to get Audible books in my name instead of relying on myself or another person to read my books? No, I don't. Because for one I can't speak properly much anymore, I have lost a good chunk of my teeth and losing more as I'm writing this. I'm lucky to be able to do my Author Promotions through YouTube without drooling or anything else that makes it difficult to do. I didn't feel it would be wise for me to do my own Audio Books due to unable to speak properly. I was supposed to do a reading out loud of Snowflakes & Sleigh Bells: A Winter Holiday Anthology for my fellow Authors that encouraged me to do so instead I had to bail out due to fumbling words and my teeth making it hard to speak. I didn't mean to let my fellow Authors down but I couldn't do it that is when I decided to do Author Promotions. Now if you are capable of reading your works out loud and get them for Audible purposes or even views for YouTube then that is great.
Do I encourage any of us Authors to embrace AI? No, I don't believe that will happen. A lot of us Indie Authors especially are already afraid that those using AI to sell their books will shut the rest of us out. While I did use Virtual Voice for my books and ChatGPT to help me out doesn't mean I am turning everything into AI that isn't happening as I am always learning to make stories of my own and pushing forward. I will keep using Audible through KDP along with Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Paperback if they keep it around.
As for the future use of AI, unfortunately, it is one of those that I doubt anyone in society will accept. Granted technology is always advancing and will continue to do so. Our phones, game consoles, computers, and beyond will keep growing. It is the way the world is always changing, we don't have to accept it but we aren't able to reverse either. As the saying goes: It is what it is.
I'm ending this blog with wishing everyone a good day and I will see you all again soon.
