The Importance of Promoting
This blog is going to be a little unique. I'm known for promoting the shit out of my books like non-stop, it's the work of being an Author when you can't afford marketing, some of us can't even market our books to save our lives. So, in the beginning of my career, I learned that KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) has a way to do either Kindle Countdown Deal or Free Book Promotion. I'll explain what they are.
Kindle Countdown Deal: Kindle Countdown Deals (KCD) allows authors to run limited-time discounts only for Kindle eBooks on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
Customers will see the regular price and the promotional price on the Kindle eBook's detail page. They will also see the countdown clock. This clock shows how much time is left to purchase the Kindle eBook at the promotional price. You will earn the selected royalty rate on each sale during the promotion.
Note: If you're located in a territory not supported to purchase from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, you may not see your Kindle Countdown Deals (KCD) promotion listed on your Kindle eBook's detail page. This promotion can only be viewed by customers who can purchase from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.
Free Book Promotion: A Free Book Promotion allows you to attract new readers and widen your audience. You can offer your Kindle eBook for free for up to 5 days out of each 90-day KDP Select enrollment period. Free Book Promotions are for Kindle eBooks only and are available in all KDP marketplaces.
I love doing the Free Book Promotion and as I've grown as an Author it is a better deal especially since my books are permanently set at $0.99, and you probably wonder why that is? It's because I'm a cheap Author. I don't believe in over pricing and charging more than what is needed. My book sales are important especially right now, I'm without an income and without anyway to support my teenager. I don't do the Free Book Promotions as much as I used too cause my books are free on other locations such as Wattpad, Inkitt, AO3, aJoara App, and WeInk App. I do know also that not everyone wants to read books on writing apps, I get it.
Doing these book promotions for free has helped a ton in my career and did gain me audience like a nice size one. I had 247 followers that was how I earned my reputation and I'm still slowly gaining back an audience. Now these free promotions will come in certain flows until I can get an income again and back on my feet. I'm still struggling to even make rent without doing anything extensive. Anyways, the point of this blog is to let others know if you have to sell your books for free a week at a time, do so, do what you see is right. I've been doing huge free sales since the beginning and don't regret it.
And, as a last promotional shot: ALL 28 OF MY BOOKS ARE FOR FREE UNTIL THIS FRIDAY! Go get them if you haven't yet.
Happy Reading!
